St. Clair County Community College’s 89th annual Commencement ceremony will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, in McMorran Place Main Arena, 701 McMorran Blvd., Port Huron. The Commencement ceremony is open to the public. No tickets are required. Michael R. Brunner, 19, of St. Clair will serve as keynote speaker for the ceremony. Brunner will graduate magna cum laude that night with an honors associate in science degree.He plans to transfer to Grand Valley State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in preparation for a career in medicine. Brunner was selected as Commencement speaker through a nomination and interview process involving SC4’s faculty and Commencement Planning Committee. He is a 2011 graduate of St. Clair High School. Brunner is a swimming instructor and lifeguard for YMCA of the Blue Water Area in Port Huron. He also volunteers with events at the YMCA. He recently was honored with the Special Child Advocate award from the St. Clair County Child Abuse/Neglect Council for his work with children in swimming lessons.
