U.S. Representative Candice Miller joined the 18th annual meeting of the St. Clair County Emergency Services first responders in Kimball Township. This annual meeting is a unique opportunity in the entire state, with hundreds of first responders, emergency management, and affiliated officials and associations within St. Clair County joining together in attendance. Rep. Miller briefed the first responders about ongoing efforts in the U.S. Congress relating to Homeland Security and border security. Rep. Miller thanked each responder for their service and dedication to keeping our communities safe and secure. Keynote speaker of the day was Cherie Black of the State of New Jersey. Ms. Black gave an overview of Hurricane Sandy, the effects on the state, and a briefing on “things they did right” and “steps to improve” their overall emergency planning. The meeting concluded with a golf outing at Fore Lakes Golf Club, with proceeds of the event being awarded to local charities.
