The Port Huron Museum has developed new programs for the Fort Gratiot Light Station as a partner with the St Clair County Parks and Recreation and the Friends of the Fort Gratiot Light. Attendance at this major regional attraction has shown excellent growth during 2012 and further growth is being planned for the 2013 season; as a result, more volunteers are needed to accommodate the visitor increase.
Some of the important volunteer openings include:
Museum store at Light Station
Tour guide for Lighthouse tour and other buildings on site
Assist with educational programs
Assist with overnight programs
Some major special events planned at the Light Station for this season are:
“Sandfest”, an exhibition/competition of top sand sculptors
5K Run during “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town” day
Ghost Hunters overnights
