SMR Automotive Systems is expected to invest some $40 million into the expansion of their Marysville plant along with purchasing a new 100,000-square-foot warehouse in Port Huron. The company states they will be adding 350 new jobs in the expansion. In a press release from Congresswoman Candice Miller, the company has received a $4 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant that was approved at a Wednesday meeting through the Michigan Strategic Fund and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to assist with the expansion. Property tax abatements will be provided through the city of Marysville. A press conference is being held today at 10 a.m. to discuss the expansion with officials from SMR, the St. Clair County Economic Development Alliance and the city of Marysville.
