The first Blue Water Sandfest begins this Thursday on July 4th and runs through Sunday at the Fort Gratiot Light Station. The event will feature sand sculpture competitions, displays by professional sand sculptors and a Pirate Party at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Tours of the light station and lighthouse are $7; admission to Sandfest is $5; and tickets to the Pirate Party are $40. There will be 10 sculptures with a patriotic theme in honor of the 4th of July. Tickets may be purchased the day of the event at the light station park. If you are looking for fireworks on the fourth, the city of St. Clair will shooting them off at Palmer Park at dusk as will the village of Lexington at the harbor along the waterfront. If you are looking for a parade, Lexington hosts the annual parade at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Algonac will feature fireworks at dusk Friday, with a 5:00 p.m. Saturday parade. Port Sanilac fireworks will be at the Harbor Park at dusk on Friday.
