The 31st Circuit Court, Family Division announced late Monday, that the Juvenile Detention Center/Residential Treatment (JDC/RT) program will be closing, due to the significant reduction in residents. The Day Treatment/Night Watch will expand its programming to include an Intensive Day Treatment/Night Watch program shortly afterwards. Authorities say this will allow more youth to receive services in a timelier manner with the preferred clinical approach and at less cost. Any youth that requires 24 hour supervised residential care will receive such services at another Juvenile Detention Center out of the county via a service agreement. Moving to the model will result in the layoff of 31 part-time employees and 25 full-time employees at the JDC/RT program. In addition, it will result in the layoff of 11 part-time employees at the DT/NW program.
