The Mosaic Artists of Michigan, a group from Clarkston, Michigan are showing their Carnival of Color at Studio 1219. The show runs now through July 31st. The opening reception will be held July 13th from 6-8pm. Both the show and the reception are open and free to the public. Mosaic Artists of Michigan began in 2003 to share, educate, and promote the resurgence of fine art mosaics – an art form whereby pictures or patterns are created on decorative or utilitarian items from small colored pieces of sturdy materials such as tile, glass, china, plastic or stone. The style of each member’s work is unique, as the art of mosaic presents a world of endless possibilities in color, texture, shape and expression. Many of the Mosaic members have achieved recognition in the art community from solo and international juried exhibits, publication in mosaic and other art books and magazines, and public and private commissions. Pieces will include a variety of unique works created by the more than forty artists making up Mosaic Artists of Michigan.
