Police Conduct Underage Alcohol Sting Operation
Last Thursday, July 11, 2013, the Port Huron Police Department conducted a sting operation focusing on underage sales of alcohol to minors. This sting operation was initiated based upon complaints of sales of alcohol to under age persons within the city of Port Huron. During the sting operation police sent underage decoys into 24 businesses that were licensed by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. Police found four businesses violating their licenses by selling/furnishing alcohol to minors. During the operation citations were written at CVS Pharmacy, 3530 Pine Grove Ave; The Spirit Shoppe, 3550 Gratiot; The Liquor Palace, 509 Tenth Street; and the Vintage Tavern, 103 Michigan. The Port Huron Police Department would like to thank all of the licensed establishments who were found to be in compliance with the Michigan Liquor Commission rules and encourage all establishments to check ID’s to prevent underage drinking.
