The American Red Cross is currently experiencing blood and platelet donation levels that are much lower than expected. The trend is significant enough that the Red Cross is issuing an emergency request for donors with all blood types to make an appointment to give now, especially O negative, A negative and B negative and platelet donors. The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting an emergency summer blood drive at the Port Huron Donor Center, 815 Pine Street (Pine St/7th St) on Tuesday, August 6 and Thursday, August 8, with appointment times now being scheduled between 1 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. each day. To participate in the “Be Blue Blooded” campaign, schedule an appointment now by phone, (800) 733-2767, or online at www.redcrossblood.org. You do not need to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce to participate in this blood drive.
