The Rockin’ the Rivers concert series gets underway tomorrow, August 1st at 6 p.m. with Ian Smith and Company followed by Parrots of the Caribbean. This is the fifth year for the series organized and presented by the Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department. The event features free musical entertainment each Thursday in August at Kiefer Park, north of the Municipal Office Center on the St. Clair River. According to Toni George of the Rec Center, this year’s series features some new groups as well as returning favorites. Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, is new to the series. Local bands and artists go on at 6 p.m. with the main acts start at 7 p.m. Beverages and food will be available for purchase with the recreation department selling cheeseburgers to help offset the cost of the event. A beer tent will be on site as well. Slides and inflatables will be available for kids.
