The Port Huron Area School District is establishing a Visionary Team to develop a picture of what the school district should look like in 3 – 5 years and beyond. The team will gain an understanding of the district’s current status in student performance, facilities, personnel and finance, identify ideas and suggestions to achieve the future “picture” and report to the District’s Planning Team by the end of October. The Planning Team will review and evaluate the ideas and suggestions and determine specific areas for emphasis over the next 3 – 5 years. Members of the District’s Planning Team will represent the Board of Education, Central Office, Employee Groups, Principals and Teachers. The Superintendent’s Cabinet will meet in August to create a list of possible team members. A Selection Team composed of 12 members of the community met on July 29 & 30 to identify the criteria for membership on the Visionary Team and develop the application for perspective team members. The Visionary Team’s “charge” and application can be viewed on the district’s web site www.phasd.us. Those interested in applying can complete the application online, print it for completion or pick up a copy at the Administration Building. Applications must be received by 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Visionary Team members will be selected on August 28 by the Selection Team. The first meetings of the team will be held on Thursday, September 12 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm and Saturday, September 14 from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. A list of meeting dates is included with the application. Meetings will be held on weeknight evenings and several Saturdays.
