Today marks the final day for candidates to turn in petitions to run in the city of Port Huron elections for the positions of City Council as well as for that of Mayor. Current Mayor Pauline Repp filed some time ago, and yesterday, council member Brian Moeller, who will hold his seat for the next three years, has thrown his hat in the ring to run against Mayor Repp for that position. Moeller served as Mayor 2007-2009, prior to the election of Pauline Repp. Moeller said he chose to run to give people an option. Alan Lewandowski, Domingo A. Ruiz and Rachel Cole terms all expire this year. Council members Ken Harris, Brian J. Moeller, and Sherry L. Archibald have three years left in their terms. At this point, Alphonso Amos, who has run in the past, has filed his papers to run but has not turned in all the signatures, Rachel Cole and former councilwoman Anita Ashford have been certified as a council candidates.
