www.bluewaterchamber.comThe Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations to its 501c3 foundation, Community Benefit Fund, to support outstanding academic achievement of Port Huron area high school students and leadership development among young adults and professionals in the Blue Water area now through October 1, 2013. The chamber’s goal is to raise $10,000 to support three new leadership development initiatives. The chamber has provided over 10,500 academic achievement awards to students in Port Huron area high schools who achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average, and over $250,000 in estimated support of academic recognition programs. The chamber is proud to continue this tradition and excited to announce three new initiatives to support the next generation of business and community leaders in the Blue Water area:
Michele M. Myrick Women in Leadership Scholarship – to benefit women leaders from member businesses seeking higher education or attending conferences or programs to enhance or develop their business and/or community leadership skills.
Amanda L. Will Chamber Leaders Conference Scholarship – The Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals created the Amanda Will Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2012, to provide scholarships to chamber staff (non-executive) statewide to attend the annual fall leadership conference. The chamber will make a contribution annually to the scholarship fund.
Boy Scouts’ Eagle Scout & Girl Scouts’ Gold Award Grant – The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce may award a scholarship to one Eagle Scout Award applicant and/or one Girl Scout Gold Award applicant to provide financial support to the development of their community service award project.
