Come December after 42 years Emory’s Furniture will be closing their doors. According to reports, Terry Floyd, current owner of the furniture store put sale signs in the front window. Terry’s father, Emory originally purchased the Truchan Brothers furniture shop, where he was employed. A second location on Garfield Street burned five years ago due to a what was described as an electrical fire. The store moved to the current location in Port Huron Township in January of last year. Floyd stated that “we live in a throw-away society….where Grandma and Grandpa kept furniture for forty years…mom and dad for twenty…now furniture is replace every few years.” The store currently features handmade wood furniture crafted in Port Huron, used furniture that has been refinished and high-quality new furniture pieces. It will all be on sale now through December.
