Carol DesJardins, St. Clair County Community College professor of computer information systems, has co-authored her first college textbook. DesJardins, of China Township, has co-authored Microsoft Excel 2013, a software textbook that is part of the New Perspectives series published by Cengage Learning. The book will be available for community college and four-year university classes. The introductory edition of the textbook was published in July and the comprehensive edition will be published this fall. DesJardins worked for about one year on the book, which helps students develop skills for the Microsoft spreadsheet software. “It was a labor of love because I’m really geeked about Excel,” DeJardins said. “It was a lot of work but it was an enjoyable project. It was very exciting to see my name on the book.” DesJardins earned her bachelor of science degree in math from Michigan State University and her master in the art of teaching degree from Marygrove College.
