On Wednesday, September 25, 2013, the Southside Coalition in partnership with St. Clair County Community Mental Health will host a Voter Registration Event during the Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Resource Fair at 3111 Electric Avenue in Port Huron from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event is open to the public. Voter Registration Drives provide an opportunity for all Americans to exercise their right to vote. To participate, simply stop by CMH with your Michigan driver’s license or personal identification card and complete the State of Michigan Voter Registration Application. Certain guidelines must be met in order to register to vote in the State of Michigan. To register to vote, individuals must meet all of the following requirements:
- U.S. citizen;
- At least 18 years of age by Election Day;
- A resident of Michigan;
- At least a 30-day resident of the city or township where you are applying to register to vote.
The deadline to register to vote in the State of Michigan is October 7th. According to the U.S. Census, in 2008, 6 million Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register. In 2013, we want to make sure no one is left out. Be sure that you are eligible to vote this November and get registered. For more information about the Voter Registration Drive, call (810) 985-8900.
