The November ballot will still have Garth Gurnsey listed as a candidate, but as of this week, he is no longer running for Port Huron City Council. Gurnsey sites negative public reaction and personal issues as his reasons to withdraw. He says, he is a leader, but is beginning to think he is not a politician. After the candidates forum last week, Gurnsey expressed dismay at the public’s reaction to a number of his statements. He said, that the negative feedback he received, bothered him. Gurnsey’s name will appear on the ballot as they have already been printed. Alphonso Amos, Anita Ashford, Rachel Cole, Alan Lewandowski and Rico Ruiz remain in the race for the three open seats….with current council member Brian Moeller and current Mayor Pauline Repp running for the mayoral seat. If Moeller is elected mayor, the top four vote-getters will win seats on the council.
