Academic Gadgets Assist local Boy Scout troop #178
May 25th, 2012

Robert Borsuk, Boy Scout Jarod, Scout Master Keith Graham

Local Scout Master Keith Graham approached educational resale store Academic Gadgets about a robotics kit to assist with the Boy Scouts Robotics merit badge. Scout Master Graham explained that robotics kits run in the hundreds of dollars and are cost prohibitive for every one of his scouts to have. Robert Borsuk, husband of Academic Gadgets store owner, Karyn Borsuk said that he could help by developing a low cost kit that would satisfy the Boy Scout Robotics Merit badge requirements and be low enough cost that every child/parent could afford one. Karyn said that Academic Gadgets would be happy to finance the initial cost and donate the first set of kits to Troop #178. Double Rumble Bumble Bot is born. Robert came up with a kit and produced ten units, financed by Academic Gadgets, that would not only satisfy the requirements but that could also be sold in the store for $19.99 (for the basic kit).  Ten robotics kits of the Double Rumble Bumble Bot were presented to Scout Master Graham and Boy Scout Jarod on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Academic Gadgets. Additional kits are available for purchase. Academic Gadgets is located at 814 10th Street, Port Huron
