PORT HURON, Mich.  — A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the Port Huron Yacht Club’s purchase of the property on the St. Clair River at the mouth of the Black River, also known as Scenic Point. Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp will speak at the ceremony which will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the gate to the property near the corner of Quay and Merchant Streets. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place at the PHYC clubhouse on Quay Street.  The public is invited to attend the ceremony.   The Port Huron Yacht Club purchased the property during the winter months after a vote of the club membership last November indicated overwhelming support for doing so.  The PHYC has no immediate plans for the property, but a committee of members is currently putting together short term, intermediate and long term plans for its development.
