A Hair Affair - Wigs 4 Kids
June 25th, 2012
Wigs 4 Kids is hosting its ninth annual fundraising gala, “A Hair Affair” from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday Sept. 14, 2012 at Barrister Gardens located at 24225 Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores. Wigs 4 Kids provides wigs and support services to Michigan children experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment, alopecia, trichotillomania and other disorders. The program is available to any child or teen from ages 3 to 18 at no cost to them or their families. Since the opening of the Wigs 4 Kids Wellness Center in June 2010, the organization now sees three times the amount of children than in previous years and the need for its services is great. The ninth annual gala gives supporters the opportunity to meet the Ambassadors they are helping in an atmosphere enjoyable for adults and children. The gala raised approximately $49,000 last year and the fundraising goal for the 2012 event is $60,000. Guests can look forward to dinner, dancing and an art show featuring the work of renowned local artist Dominic Pangborn. Wigs 4 Kids is hosting a pre-gala raffle with a grand prize of $1,000 to be raffled off the night of the event where the winner will be announced. Pre-gala raffle tickets are currently being sold at $10. The winner does not need to be present to redeem the prize. Tickets are $75 per adult or $700 for a table of ten and $30 for children 11 and under.
