4-H Exploration Days
June 29th, 2012
St. Clair County 54 4-H members and 12 adult chaperones traveled to the MSU campus in East Lansing on June 20-22 for a 3 day 2 night pre-college experience called 4-H Exploration Days. 4-H Exploration Days offers youth ages 11 – 19 the opportunity to stay in a college dorm attend educational session and enjoy recreation activities while learning to navigate a college campus. This event attracts more than 2,500 4-H’ers from counties across the state. During the event 4-H’ers are recognized for their achievements of excellence in leadership in specific project areas. A number of local members won top awards at the event which called for them to communicate their 4H experiences into a professional portfolio that includes leadership and service opportunities as a 4-H member. Laurie Warchuck, 4H Program Assistant says, because of their participation in state awards, 4-H members will set new goals that will assist them in new leadership roles and gain the confidence to try new project areas and experiences.
