What Are We Drinking?
July 27th, 2012

In a recent letter Port Huron City Manager Bruce Brown expressed his disappointment caused by public comments being made by Fort Gratiot Township Supervisor Doug Hannan concerning the quality of water provided by the City of Port Huron.  Doug Hannan told WGRT he was looking at having water provided by the Detroit Water System in the future.  Hannan stated that Port Huron’s water is provided from a pipe that lies at the bottom of the St. Clair River, rather than a pipe that travels the bottom then moves upward to take water from the top portion of the lake.  City Manager Bruce Brown told WGRT that both water systems work in the exact same manner with the water being drawn from the upper portion, not along the bottom of the riverbed. And he  assured us that Port Huron’s water meets all Federal and State standards of quality.  The letter may be viewed at the wgrt website on Marty’s blog.
