Another Primary Election is behind us and some seats were held, while there were a few upsets.  Republican Andrea LaFontaine will run in November to uphold her seat as Representative in the 32^nd District.  Dan Lauwers won the opportunity to run on the Republican ticket in the 81^st District opposing Democrat Patrick Phelan and Paul Muxlow held his seat over Republican contender Bob Eick.  Muxlow will face Democrat Carol Campbell, come November.  St. Clair County Clerk and Register of Deeds Jay Deboyer retained his right to run as a Republican against Democrat and former County Commissioner Pamela Wall.  Bob Wiley, current Drain Commissioner will face off against Democrat Vern Pearl.   The position of Surveyor was very close with less than a 100 vote difference between Stephen Bruen and Charles Koob.  In the County Commissioner race come November, the ballot will read for District 1, Republican  Steven Simasko against Democrat Anne Baker, District 2, Republican Karl Tomion taking on Democrat Cheryl Kearns-Stein.  In District 3 Democrat Howard Heidemann retains his seat.  In District 4, Republican Terry London was uprooted by Tom Reilly; In District 5 Jeff Bohm ran unopposed, as did David Rushing for District 6.  In District 7 Republican Bill Gratop will run against Democrat Jynil Schneider.  As far as the St. Clair County Millage askings;  It was yes for Road Improvement and the millage for seniors, and no for the Conservation District.  Fort Gratiot Township saw an upset as Doug Hannan was unseated by Jorja Baldwin.  According to St. Clair County Clerk Jay DeBoyer, voter turn out was low – Sue Child, Port Huron City Clerk agreed that voter turn out was lower than usual.  The question to voters in the city of Port Huron concerning giving city officials the ability to sell the Quay Street Parking Lot if they choose was a yes vote.
