Blue Water River Walk Plans Announced
August 24th, 2012

The Community Foundation of St. Clair County officials announced yesterday that they have raised 75% of the funds needed to complete the trail of the Blue Water River Walk, which they are hoping to have built by next summer.  According to Randy Maiers, President of the Community foundation, the project is about $50,000 short of reaching the $200,000 required, as match money for a grant through the Transportation Enrichment Grant Program of the Michigan Department of Transportation.  The river walk will include a multi-purpose pedestrian trail, 10 feet wide  and will run some 4,300 feet along the shoreline from Vantage Point south to the Seaway Terminal on land donated to the foundation by Acheson Ventures. The plan calls for  restoring the shoreline as well as building a walkway that will serve as a connector to the Bridge-to-Bay Trail.  The entire project hope for shoreline and habitat restoration, a ferry dock, an a fishing pier. The Community Foundation has until the end of the year to raise the additional money.  To make a donation, visit www.stclairfoundation.org/riverwalkor call (810) 984-4761.
