Last year, 12 people died in traffic accidents during the Labor Day holiday in Michigan; 21 died in 2010.  Local law enforcement officials say this Labor Day drivers should buckle up and drive sober or face the consequences.  Law enforcement officers from 26 Michigan counties have increased their drunk driving and seat belt patrols over the past few weeks.  The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” program uses federal traffic safety grant money through the state Office of Highway Safety Planning and includes St. Clair County.   The program runs through today and is part of regular enforcement of the Click it or Ticket and Operating While Intoxicated campaign.  Reports say that in 2011, a similar campaign saw some 230 people statewide sited for drunken driving in late August and early September.
