The Port Huron Police Department/St. Clair County Major Crimes Unit has in custody a 54 year old Port Huron resident in connection with two armed robberies which occurred in the City of Port Huron during the past few weeks. Larry Ellington was arrested in connection with the robberies and is currently being held in the St. Clair County Intervention Center on a $250,000 bond.   The first robbery occurred on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Marathon Gas Station in the 1000 block of Lapeer. The suspect entered the store and displayed a handgun demanding cash.  The second robbery occurred on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Speedway Gas Station in the 2300 block of Oak Street. The suspect entered the store and implied he had a gun while demanding cash.  Both robberies had the suspect fleeing the stores on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.  The robbery investigations were turned over to the Port Huron Police Department/St. Clair County Sheriff Major Crimes Unit. Officers developed a lead on the suspect and took him into custody later in the day on September 8, 2012.  Ellington has been arraigned on 2 counts of Armed Robbery and is awaiting a preliminary examination scheduled for September 25, 2012 in front of Judge John Monaghan.
