Hunting Accident Takes A Life
September 21st, 2012
Police continue investigation into a shooting that left a 17-year-old Brockway Township boy dead. Rescue crews responded to 12883 Wilkes Road in Brockway Township about 7:40 p.m. last evening after a shooting was reported. Reports say three adults were on the property with permission to hunt coyotes after there had been reports of issues with livestock when they saw movement and took a shot. Upon investigating the shooting, the hunters found Devon Arron Derouin injured. Sheriff Tim Donnellon said the hunters called 911 and remained at the scene and were cooperative. The person who allegedly fired the shot was a 24-year-old Port Huron Township man. Derouin had been given permission to scout deer on the property. It is believed that the two parties were unaware of one another. The hunters were taken to the county jail to be interviewed. The case remains under investigation.
