Reconstruction of Palms Road To Begin Today
October 3rd, 2012
Starting today, reconstruction of Palms Road between Trumble Road and Big Hand Road is beginning. Potholes, cracks and basic deterioration of the roadway will be addressed in the reconstruction. David Reinke, project engineer for St. Clair County Road Commission, says the project will cost an estimated $580,000 and is funded by the St. Clair County Road Commission, the State of Michigan and the Federal Highway Administration. Although authorities do not foresee much in the way of disruption to local residents and businesses, road closures are expected to be set up during daytime hours. A detour will be posted for about three days of the project, otherwise, the road will be open to through traffic, but with fewer lanes. Residents and emergency vehicles are expected to be able to access local properties throughout the entire project, but residents should plan for delays associated with the construction. The project is expected to be completed by November 9.
