October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Kelly Grevemeyer, RN, Oncology Nurse Navigator for the Mercy Regional Cancer Center talked with WGRT about why early detection is so important in cases of breast cancer, the steps women can take to ensure early detection, as well as the many activities Mercy Regional Cancer Center is involved in throughout this month of awareness.   The Mercy Regional Cancer Center will host its annual FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon. Featured at the event will be an inspirational discussion presented by Nora Neruda-Condland, who will discuss how her breast cancer experience has led her to open herself up to new opportunities in life. This is a unique offering for breast cancer patients, survivors and guests Grevemeyer says. The program also includes the availability of Pink Hair for Hope extensions for a donation of $10; a light lunch and giveaways. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Baggot Street Café (cafeteria).
