November 16th, 2012
A known sex offender was arrested following reports that he had followed a Marysville High School student from the school parking lot. On Tuesday of this week, a female student was reportedly leaving the high school at about 4:15 p.m. when she noticed the 44-year-old Fort Gratiot man staring at her from his car. She drove out of school parking lot and called her mother when the man followed her through town. The mother tcalled 911 and the man was stopped by Marysville Police, at which time officers learned the man was a registered sex offender. Within 24 hours, Marysville Police requested a search warrant for the man’s arrest based on the fact that he was a sex offender loitering on school property. Investigation found that the subject was also in violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act in that he had failed to report his change in address, which is a felony. The man is currently lodged at the St. Clair County Jail with no bond available, awaiting arraignment.
