Fire Agreement Just Didn't Work
December 11th, 2012
The agreement to share a fire chief between the cities of Port Huron and Marysville just didn’t work the way the two had hoped. At last night’s Port Huron City Council meeting, City Manager Bruce Brown announced that they have mutually agreed to end the fire collaboration that put Chief Tom Konik in charge of both fire departments. Brown stated the original thought was the collaboration would be a way to create cost savings and efficient for both cities and after six months, they found that is not the case and is not likely to be so in the future. It was not determined when the collaboration will formally end and who will be assigned to head up Port Huron’s fire department.
