CNS reports that in the public schools in Detroit, Mich., according to the U.S. Department of Education, only 7 percent of the eighth graders are grade-level proficient or better in reading. Michigan school districts have had decades to solve their problems. If you want to know what is really un-American, it is school leaders who had the power to change this sad reality and now complain when the state steps in and says enough is enough.
