
Two Locals Earn Title Of U.S. Marine

Marine Corps Pfc. Joshua L. Shepard, son of Suzanne and Michael C. Shepard of Jeddo, and Marine Corps Pvt. Chantelle D. Henderson, daughter of Dorthy Y. and Aundrey D. Henderson of Port Huron, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C. For 13 weeks, the two stayed committed during some of the world’s most demanding entry-level military training in order to be transformed from civilian to Marine. Training subjects included close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies. Shepard is a 2008 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School of Port Huron and Henderson is a 2012 graduate of Landmark Academy of Kimball, Mich.
