Port Huron Police - State Of The Art Online Reporting System
December 14th, 2012
The Port Huron Police Department is now in partnership with COPLOGIC; the state of the art online reporting system now available to individuals wishing to make a police report online. The program, funded entirely by grant dollars, will allow citizens to report many non-emergency crimes via the internet. The goal of COPLOGIC is to make the police department more efficient by allowing officers to respond to higher priority calls while citizens wishing to report lower priority calls will experience the convenience of reporting from their home or office without waiting for an officer to respond. Police Chief Michael Reaves said that the new system will make us “more efficient and effective” in our mission to assist the community in ensuring their safety and quality of life. COPLOGIC is available to anyone with an internet connection. It can be accessed from either the City’s website at www.porthuron.org or the Police Department’s website at www.porthuronpolice.org. Users will find the COPLOGIC link which when selected will take them to the reporting site. Informative information is listed to help the user determine if self reporting is appropriate for their situation. The system is user friendly and simple to navigate. Once the necessary information is entered, the user will review the report prior to submission. A team of police department employees will review the submitted reports within 1 business day and upon approval will send a response back with an official complaint number and a printable version of the complaint. Crimes eligible to be reported online are larcenies under $500, child custody violations, vandalism, lost or found property, private property car crashes, barking/nuisance dog, and harassment/threats. “Our goal is to continue improving police technology to further fight crime and protect our citizens”, said Chief Reaves.
