Current Port Huron city manager Bruce Brown is expected to be in his position until  February 2014.   Brown says that between now and that time, he will be reviewing the job description which has not been updated since 2006 and he feels it no longer fits the job. His hope is to update that description to match it with the skills needed before the job gets posted in March.  Brown believe Port Huron needs a city manager who is willing to thing outside of the box and actively pursue new development, and someone who will work to continue the spirit of collaboration between the city and other government entities, which he said was lacking when took the position.  The goal, he says is to post the position in March, interview 4 or 5 candidates and then take the top 2 or 3 before City Council, for the final selection.  A special meeting will be held in February to discuss his plan at length.  Bruce Brown came to Port Huron in September of 2008 as an interim city manager and was hired Feb. 1, 2009.  Previously, he held the city manager position in Kalamazoo and and was actively involved in developments in Grand Rapids and Indianapolis.
