PH Sports Hall Of Fame Grand Opening At SC4
January 14th, 2013
The Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame and St. Clair County Community College will have a grand opening Saturday, Jan. 26, to celebrate the hall of fame’s new location on SC4’s Port Huron campus. The public is invited for self-guided tours from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 5 to 7 p.m. in the lower level of the college’s North Building. The North Building also houses the SC4 Gym, where the SC4 Skippers basketball teams will be playing that day. Both teams will play Henry Ford Community College. The women’s team plays at 1 p.m., and the men’s team plays at 3 p.m. The hall of fame features more than 300 plaques honoring local teams and individual athletes. It inducts new members each year and honors local athletes with awards and scholarships. The hall previously was housed at the Thomas Edison Inn in Port Huron but was in need of a new location. A number of SC4 student athletes have been inducted into the hall of fame, including the 2000 and 2004 national championship volleyball teams.
