Rep. Lauwers To serve On Key House Committees
February 1st, 2013
State Rep. Dan Lauwers will help shape Michigan legislative policy in key areas that directly affect St. Clair County and the region. Speaker Jase Bolger has appointed Lauwers to the committees on Agriculture; Energy and Technology; Transportation; and Michigan Competitiveness. “My committee assignments provide me with an opportunity to affect positive change in many different areas important to all of us while keeping an eye on our top priority — creating a healthy economy that benefits all Michigan residents,” said Lauwers, R-Brockway. “I welcome the chance to further strengthen Michigan’s economy, improve our roads and bridges and create common-sense energy policy.” Lauwers noted that the food and agriculture industry in Michigan contributes $91.4 billion annually to the state’s economy, an increase of more than 50 percent from 2004 to 2010. “Agriculture obviously plays a tremendous role in St. Clair County and our region as a whole, and I’m honored to be chosen to help shape ag policy in Michigan,” Lauwers said. “The committee should hit the ground running and begin to find ways to encourage additional job creation in this important sector by strengthening Michigan’s family farms and ag production across the state.”
