Receive Help From SC4 on Feb. 10 Filling Out Financial Aid Forms
January 31st, 2013
Students and parents who need help filling out their federal financial aid forms can come to MI College Goal from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron. The workshop (formerly known as College Goal Sunday) will be in Room 150 of the college’s Citizens First Michigan Technical Education Center, corner of Erie Street and Glenwood Avenue. MI College Goal features financial aid advisors available to help students and parents fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students and parents coming to the free event are asked to bring their completed 2012 tax forms (or W2s and 1099s). MI College Goal is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Department of Education, Michigan Guaranty Agency, Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide. The program is administered nationally by USA Funds, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Indianapolis that works to enhance postsecondary education preparedness, access and success by providing and supporting financial and other services. Additional support for MI College Goal was provided by C.S. Mott Foundation and DTE Energy Foundation. College Goal Sunday was created in 1989 in Indiana by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education. Michigan locations began offering the event in 2004 in cooperation with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Lumina Foundation for Education. This is SC4’s eighth year participating. Students attending will have the opportunity to compete for a $1,000 scholarship, an iPad mini and other awards offered statewide by MI College Goal organizers.
