Saturday Delivery Of U.S. Mail - Soon To Be Ended
February 6th, 2013
Saturday delivery of the U.S. mail may soon be a thing of the past. According to a news report today the U.S. Postal Service is looking to make an announcement today stating the agency will stop delivering mail on Saturdays beginning in August of this year, but continue to deliver packages six days a week under a plan aimed at saving about $2 billion. While letters and other types of mail have declined in the past few years, due to email and the Internet, package delivery has seen an increase. At this point, it is expected that post offices would remain open for business on Saturday, and mail would still be delivered to post office boxes. An official announcement is expected later today.
