Icy Roads Cause of Crash Tuesday
February 7th, 2013
One person was taken to a local hospital following a three car crash late Tuesday night on eastbound I-94 near Meisner Road. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, icy conditions caused the crash, which occurred shortly after 11:30. The first vehicle involved lost control on the icy road and struck the median barrier. The next vehicle then spun out of control, also striking the barrier. A third car then lost control and struck the driver of the second car, who had exited his vehicle. The injured driver, 59 year old Rodney Thompson of Port Huron, was transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to Port Huron Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Eastbound I-94 was closed from 26 Mile Road to Fred Moore Highway for about two hours following the crash. The freeway was opened to traffic shortly after 2:00 this morning. Ira Township Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene.
