Partners at Heart
February 13th, 2013

Partners at Heart, the joint cardiac program of Port Huron Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, is celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing comprehensive cardiac services to the Blue Water area and has recently been ranked among the best in quality outcomes when compared to other hospitals by the Society of Surgeons. The two hospitals established Partners at Heart in 1993 based on community need. Although both hospitals had approval from the state to create their own programs, they determined that it would be more beneficial to the community if they combined their resources and extensive expertise into one solid service. The purpose of Partners at Heart is to eliminate the need to travel out of the area for cardiac care and to offer one of the best heart surgery programs anywhere. With more than 3,700 open heart surgeries performed since the program’s inception, that mission remains steadfast today.
