Marysville Firefighters Local 1635 Benefits Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund
February 28th, 2013

The Marysville firefighters are committed to fighting more than just fires. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month last fall, Marysville Local 1635 hosted the Second Annual Think Pink! T-Shirt Fundraiser. The event featured the sale of both long- and short-sleeved t-shirts as well as sweatshirt at various community locations with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund. The Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund, which originated at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital more than 15 years ago, is designed for women in need of advanced breast cancer diagnosis, who have no insurance or financial resources to pay for their care.  (Pictured) Recently presenting a check for more than $1,660 to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital President & CEO Rebekah Smith, RN, and representing Marysville Local 1635 are firefighters (left to right) Mike Yarger and Steven McNeil. Thanks and appreciation are extended to the many groups and organization across the community that put forth efforts each year to raise both awareness regarding breast cancer and important funding to women in need right in our community.  To find out more about the programs and services offered at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron, visit online at mymercy.us.
