Rep. Miller Lends Supports To Judge David Viviano On His Appointment To The Michigan Supreme Court
March 1st, 2013

David Viviano and Governor Rick Snyder

David Viviano has been appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to fill a recently vacated seat by Justice Diane Hathaway’s resignation from the Michigan Supreme Court.  Viviano currently serves as Chief Judge of the Macomb County Circuit Court.  Rep. Candice Miller lends her support “Judge David Viviano is an honest, humble and brilliant jurist and public servant who will serve the people of Michigan well on our state supreme court.  David Viviano believes in judicial restraint, the rule of law and equal justice for all under the law, and has administered justice in that manner on the Macomb County Circuit Court bench.  As a lifelong resident of Macomb County I am so proud that today our county has one of our own sitting as a Justice on our state Supreme Court for the first time in my lifetime.   “Our entire community has great respect and admiration not only for Judge Viviano, but for his entire family that has served and given back so much to Macomb County.  Now Judge Viviano can share that same commitment to service and justice with our entire state that we have valued so much in Macomb County.  I know Governor Snyder had many great jurists from which to choose for this position, but I do not believe he could have found anyone more qualified and better suited for this important role than Judge David Viviano.  I applaud the Governor for the careful consideration he has given during this process and for making such an outstanding appointment.”  Viviano’s appointment gives the court a five-two Republican majority.
