Hockey Game To Benefit The DARE Program
March 1st, 2013
The Port Huron Police Department and Port Huron Fire Department will be facing off this Thursday, March 21, 2012 for the 3rd annual DARE Hockey Game. The event kicks off at 6pm at McMorran Arena and features officers from the Police Department squaring off with members of the Fire Department. All proceeds from the event go to the Port Huron Police DARE program. The game will feature skaters of all skill levels and marks a tie breaker from the past 2 years. PH Police won the game in its inaugural year in 2011. PH Fire won last year’s event. Tickets can be purchased at the Port Huron Police Department or at the door on the night of the event. Cost is only 5 dollars. The event will also feature chuck-a-puck, a silent auction containing various gift certificates, Red Wings apparel (including a hat signed by Mickey Redmond) and other items, and the Northern Band will play at intermission. The event is family oriented and will have officers and firefighters in the crowd cheering on their team. The public is encouraged to come and help cheer on their favorite public safety team by wearing blue for the police or red for the firefighters! The media is also encouraged to attend. “Events such as these show our strong concerted efforts to keep programs like DARE in our community and available for our children. Drug Education and Awareness is one of the many ways to combat drug abuse in our children, our families, and our community” said Public Safety Director Michael Reaves.
