Port Huron And Capac Tax Askings Pass

In Port Huron, the 18-mill non-homestead tax makes up nearly 13 percent of the district’s budget. Port Huron’s tax renewal passed with 2,716 votes in favor and 1,585 no votes. School districts can receive up to 18 mills from the tax. By collecting non-homestead taxes, school districts receive the full amount of funding. Districts are funded per pupil with a combination of state and local funds. Capac’s 2.52 mill tax increase to pay for school improvements passed as well with a vote of 458 to 321.
