St. Clair County Juvenile Detainees Will Be Housed In Macomb
September 20th, 2013
Macomb County commissioners have approved an agreement with St. Clair County to house juvenile detainees at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center in Mt. Clemens. St. Clair County commissioners approved the agreement last month. This will allow the Port Huron Township juvenile detention facility to close, saving officials say St. Clair County about $500,000 a year. The contract which runs through December 31, 2015 calls for St. Clair County to pay Macomb $150 per day per juvenile. The Mt. Clemens facility can hold about 140 youths and authorities say that new staff will not need to be hired.
