
Lighthouse Keepsake Available For Gifts

Since 2009, Friends of the Fort Gratiot Light, a group of concerned citizens, preservationists, and local business leaders, have taken on the task of raising funds to restore and renovate the historic Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. Once renovation is completed, it will not only preserve an important local historic landmark, but will also serve as a local tourist attraction which will contribute to the local economy. As you do your holiday shopping, think about giving twice, once to your personal list and once to the Friends of the Fort Gratiot Light. There is wide range of options for giving: Step by Step program – donate for steps to the lighthouse tower.. Membership in the Friends of the Fort Gratiot Light. Own a Brick from the Lighthouse, to keep. Bricks are available in authentic bare brick ($10.00 each), or with an attached commemorative laminated cover plate, in color ($30.00). They are both the original 1829 brick from the tower. Bricks go on sale November 23, 2011 and are availabel at: Port Huron Museum, Carnegie Center, 9 am – 5 pm, on Monday – Friday, and 11 am – 5 pm, Sat./Sun.
