
19 Year Old Charged In Stabbing

A 19 year old Port Huron resident was charged yesterday in connection with a stabbing that occurred on December 11, 2011 around 11:50pm in the area of 11th and Union. Dennis Latrell Holmes was arraigned in 72nd District Court Tuesday on one count of Assault with Intent to Murder. Bond was set at $100,000 and the matter was set for a preliminary examination on 12/27/11 at 9:30am in front of Judge John Monaghan. The incident began when Holmes and the victim were transporting drugs in a vehicle and began to argue. The two men exited the vehicle at which time Holmes attacked the victim, stabbing him 16 times. Holmes further assaulted the victim by kicking him as the victim fell to the ground. Holmes then fled the area. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation was turned over to the joint Port Huron Police Department/St. Clair County Sheriff Department Major Crimes Unit who located Holmes shortly before noon on 12/12/11 in the area of 26th and Manuel. He was taken into custody without incident.
