The  Wayne State Warriors (12-3) will play Pittsburg State (Kan.) in Florence, Ala., this Saturday for the national title – that is the NCAA Division II championship. Wayne State defeated Winston-Salem State, 21-14, in North Carolina last week, to win its fourth straight playoff road game.  Wayne State, is a largely commuter school in downtown Detroit with an enrollment of over 31,500, with the only national championship thus far, in men’s and women’s fencing. The university is more known for its graduates, like the radio host Casey Kasem, the journalists Hugh Downs and Helen Thomas.  Our heroes at Wayne state are part of the Wayne State Warrior,  graduate of Port Huron High School and fifth year senior receiver Troy Burrell  and tight end, Port Huron Northern Graduate Cory Zauner.  In this last game  Troy Burrell led the team with four catches for 75 yards.  Cory Zauner had one catch for 13 yards.  The game can be seen tomorrow on ESPN 2 at 11:00 a.m.
