The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Systems course provides simple ways to prevent abduction and rape.  The system is designed to be easy to learn, easy to retain and easy to employ in stressful situations.  R.A.D. is the largest network of its kind, with over 7000 instructors receiving training and more than 300-thousand women trained since its inception in 1989.  The course, which is open to women only, will be taught by St. Clair County Sheriff Corrections Deputy Patti Muxlow and Deputy Gary Antilla, who are certified R.A.D. instructors.  Training will be held on Saturday, January 28^th from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  There will be a break for lunch. Registration for the course is being held at the Sheriff’s Office, located at 1170 Michigan Road, Port Huron Township.  Anyone interested can sign up Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Registration is limited to 20 women. The non-refundable registration fee is $25 and must be paid at the time of signup.  Once that fee is paid, registrants can receive refresher training free of charge for life at sites throughout the United States and Canada.  The deadline for registration is January 25^th.  If you have any questions, contact Public Information Officer Deputy Steve Campau at (810) 987-1754.
